As in the previous urn, I was reminded of how fog and clouds are represented in old Japanese drawings and water colours, but this time I used the embroidery right side up.

I preferred the back side of the embroidery, it reminded me of how fog and clouds are represented in old Japanese drawings and water colours, so I reversed the fabric and used up almost every little scrap of embroidery-

Domestic Wilderness #01 (January 2014)

8 (used) moving boxes, 1 woolen blanket, 1 acrylic blanket, 6 x cotton bed sheets,
2 x hospital bed sheets + tape, sewingthread (all textiles are second-hand)

I made this boat in my tiny one bedroom flat, so had to use Photoshop to get rid of all my furniture etc.

Hand sewn patchwork pillow made from old tourist table cloth (bought in the 1960's by my grandfather in Greenland) From the top; front, back, test piece, middle part of the original design followed by images from the border. 40cm x 40cm
