+ I K I G A I +

Ikigai (生き甲斐, pronounced [ikiɡai]) is a Japanese concept meaning "a reason for being". Everyone, according to the Japanese, has an ikigai. Finding it requires a deep and often lengthy search of self (wikipedia)

+ KLITGÅRDEN REFUGIUM +

Earlier this month I spent a fantastic week as artist in residency at Klitgården Refugium in Skagen in the North of Denmark right by the sea. I brought with me a small stack of new materials, cheap dishwashing clothes, sticky-back plastic etc and made a giant fuschia and a coat.

The first image is the main building, the second image is the view from my bathroom an early Saturday morning-

PRINT + PROCESS

My dear friend, the talented and ever so patient, Amy Novak updated the design on my postcards just in time for northmodern; thank you, thank you, I'm so pleased with the pastel on pastel : )

At the moment I'm busy making a new batch of one-off flower brooches, all made from vintage silk scarfs, recycled garments etc. For prices and availability please contact me at hello@martinemyrup.com
